How Clusters have used these services

Services can be tailored to your requirements, but below are some examples of recent studies carried for clusters.

Excellence Cluster A

Overall aims:

To conduct a survey of pupil attitudes to learning with selected year groups across a range of schools and to see if these attitudes change over time after school action.

The process:

Fifteen schools undertook the surveys with selected year groups, involving some 1200+ pupils, during the Spring/Summer Term 2005. The survey was repeated, with the same pupils, in the Spring/Summer Term 2006.

At the end of the first survey all schools were provided with a statistical report against each of the Performance Areas and also at individual question level.

After the second survey all schools were again provided with a statistical report against each of the Performance Areas and also at individual question level. In addition, each statistical report contained data comparing the results of the first and second surveys. In this way individual schools are able to judge the impact of any action taken as a result of the first surveys. The statistical report for each school was complemented by a consultant's report which identified and summarised the main findings.

For the cluster, an overall statistical report was provided and from this a written report generated which includes:

  • an analysis and summary of the findings from the surveys for each school.
  • an overall analysis and summary identifying any generic issues across the schools or from similar schools within the cluster.

Performance Areas

  • The Learning Context
  • The Organisation of Learning
  • The Learning Environment
  • The Learner's Experience
  • Feedback
  • Learning Outcomes

Excellence Cluster B

Overall Aims:

To carry out a pupil and parent survey in each of ten Infant Schools.

The outcome was be a written report that includes:

  • An analysis and summary of the findings from the surveys for each school.
  • An overall analysis and summary identifying any generic issues across the schools.

The process:

Ten schools undertook the surveys during the Autumn 2005.

All schools have been given individual data and feedback about strengths and weaknesses with outline priorities for development. From the results, comparative data for the ten schools has been provided against each of the Performance Area headings:

  • Clarity of Expectations
  • The Learning Experience
  • Relationships with Staff and other Pupils
  • The Summary School Experience
  • Safety and Security
